About the Artist

I was born in San Diego, CA. My childhood was spent living in the Bay Area, Hawaii, the East Coast, and the Pacific Northwest. I moved to Coronado in 1995 and graduated from Coronado High School and Coronado School of the Arts in 1997. In 2002, I received a BA in Art with an Emphasis in Painting and Printmaking, minor in Italian, from San Diego State University (SDSU). While at SDSU I participated in a year-long study abroad program in Florence, Italy, attending the Italian life drawing school, Scuola Libera del Nudo all' Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze.

I am a painter and photographer, and have shown my work throughout San Diego and Florence, Italy. I specialize in portrait, pet portrait, landscape and abstract paintings and wedding, portrait and landscape photography. I am also an independent graphic designer and love to combine all of these elements into my mixed media pieces. I am currently also the Graphic Design Instructor at Coronado School of the Arts and Coronado High School.

My work tends to focus on places I have been, food I love to eat, and creatures that I know. My travels to other worlds has a great influence on my work. My mind is never quiet. I constantly think in layers and try to translate that into each piece that I create, whether it is a photograph, painting or mixed media piece. I find myself revealing environments underneath and blurred memories on the surface. Some ideas transform quickly before me. Others are deconstructed and reassembled over and over again. I am fascinated with the uncharted and intimate journey that happens within each piece.
