Coronado resident Ann Bancroft began writing fiction after a career in journalism and communications. Her first novel, The Oakland Mets, won the 2018 San Diego Book Award for best unpublished novel. She leads workshops based on the Amherst Writers and Artists method at the Coronado Historical Association and at San Diego Writers, Ink. Ann was a reporter for the Associated Press and the San Francisco Chronicle, an editorial writer at the Sacramento Bee, essayist on Open Salon and a freelance magazine journalist. She has had a short story published in The Coffee Chronicles (A Word With You Press) and novel excerpt in San Diego Writers, Ink’s tenth anthology, a Year in Ink. She is working on her second novel.
